TIARNA HERCZEG

TIARNA HERCZEG

Jana Bayan Buku Dungan Nagyu Bawajin/ They all went home, but I stayed. (Kuku-yalanji/ English)

Tiarna Herczeg is a kuku-yalanji artist practising on Gadigal lands. She has spent most of her life living on Dharug country and still maintains a strong connection to the Western Sydney community. Her approach to painting comes from a sense of urgency regarding her spiritual and cultural identity.

Living off country and practising mostly inside her studio,Tiarna is guided to use the emotional and creative energy within her, which more than often provokes questionable memories of colourful landscapes.

There is a spiritual exchange of energy between herself and the artwork. By allowing herself to listen and be guided by her cultural intuition, she is left with a sacred depiction of Australia that cannot be told by anyone else.
