Deceptive Practices
Deceptive Practices is an artificial robotic lifeform developed through three years of artistic research by Giselle Penn and Marilia Bergamo. The project draws its initial inspiration from Aristolochia gigantea. The plant’s distinctive reproductive strategy—luring flies into its flower and temporarily trapping them—became a conceptual anchor for the work.
The final sculpture presented in this installation consists of three robotic flowers, each with its own behaviour. While individually autonomous, the flowers remain aware of one another, responding dynamically to each other’s actions and to the presence of spectators.
The exhibition brings together the research behind the work and the final robotic sculpture, offering a glimpse into its lifeform existence.
