Ctrl+Alt+Del

Ctrl+Alt+Del is an installation of painting and sculptures speculating on the tenuous and fragile nature of our ever shifting environments across digital, urban and natural landscapes. Control+Alt+Delete is a command used to reset, to fix an error, to start afresh. In an age dominated by rapidly shifting, malfunctioning and complicated environments, from environmental catastrophe, polarising political climates, unchartered technological waters and near boiling social melting pots, our natural tendencies to want to reset, start again, fight or flight are being increasingly activated. But is that the best response? Can we find a way out of this mess that is not to simply “try turning it on and off again”? We have a natural tendency to want to throw up our hands and hit reset when things don’t happen the way we want, but times like this require patience, research and planning to rationally and respectfully consider a path forward. This installation considers the ephemerality of our contemporary existence and speculates how to navigate this uncertain terrain.
