Being Here

A noun and an adjective, dust represents stillness and settlement. Nevertheless, it is made up of exactly the opposite. Dust comprises an array of particles which allude to preceding actions. In fact, it is more inevitable than ourselves. Dust is a gentle reminder that we exist within structures which aim to maintain facades that almost negate human presence. The dust within this show is collected from places of work, study, friends, and family. Being Here is an attempt to suspend and elevate dust within both recognisable structures, and sculptural gestures. It succumbs to the art practice, rather than inhibiting it, allowing a recognition of its essential components.
