Bodies of Excess
Bodies of Excess is a collaborative performance installation that disrupts the expectation of the body as a fixed entity, instead embracing states of abjection and bodily “excess” — sweat, scars, and mutations become sites of transformation and power. It reckons with the contradictions of embodiment, from our repressed awareness of fragility to the visceral repulsion of encountering our own flesh. When the body’s seeming integrity as a contained unit unravels, revealing its lush, messy, and fleshy potential, what new modes of life might come into being?
