The Emperor's Horse

The Emperor's Horse brings together the practices of painter Alexandra Stephenson and photomedia artist Amirah Rachwani in a duo exhibition that interrogates the visual rhetoric of Western fairy tales. Both artists hijack the canon of Western fairy tales to make assertions about how feminine identity is shaped and enforced. The show will be a kaleidoscope of colour, pattern and objects, with their shiny surfaces inviting delight before revealing more pointed political assertions.
