Bloodline has been an unearthing of matrilineal ancestry, my cultural heritage of Uruguay and memory, grounded in notions of care and repair. I give agency to, and adapt ancient textile methodologies and craft through a mainly intuitively driven process using repurposed and found materials, which include my mother’s aged dressmaking pattern papers to create sculptural forms and figurative mixed media collages. This body of work honours my mum, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2021.
