NQA BLAYED & LAURA BUTLER
Suture
Situated as a dialogue between the practices of sculptor Nqa Blayed and ceramicist Laura Butler, the works in Suture register both the physical intensity and sensitivity of the artists’ material interventions. Contrasting structural principles unfold in the tension between ceramic grids and sculptural linear forms. Qualities that reveal the strength and fragility of their respective materials become conduits of expression in supports that corrode, and gestural marks that document process and touch.
